Analysis
Welcome to LNG Analysis
Why I'm starting this blog, and what you can expect to find here.
Welcome to my blog. I’m Tobi Balogun, and I analyze LNG — liquefied natural gas.
Over the past decade, LNG has transformed from a rigid, contract-dominated trade into a fast-moving, global commodity market. Cargoes now routinely reroute between the Atlantic and Pacific basins chasing arbitrage, spot prices like JKM and TTF move with the weather, and a wave of new liquefaction capacity on the US Gulf Coast is reshaping the supply picture through the end of the decade.
But the market is still opaque. Public information is patchy, terminals publish inconsistent data, and the interplay between shipping, storage, and project timelines makes it hard to see what’s really happening. That’s what this blog is for.
What to Expect
I’ll be publishing analysis on:
- Weekly and monthly market recaps — price spreads, freight rates, and flow patterns
- Deep dives on supply projects — FIDs, cost curves, and timelines
- Shipping economics — charter rates, tonnage balance, steam vs DF engines
- Demand-side dynamics — European storage, Asian pull, and weather risk
None of this will be trading advice; it’s analysis from someone who follows the trade closely and enjoys explaining it.
Thanks for stopping by — more to come soon.
